Herbert Wiedemann - piano improvisation for beginners
After his studies of school music and piano, Herbert Wiedemann taught piano at the University of Oldenburg. In 1983 he obtained his doctorate in music pedagogy. Five years later, he was granted the professorship for piano- with a focus on improvisation- at the University of Arts in Berlin.
This course is intended for pianists who search for alternatives to the common way of playing after notes. Variations of playing and exercises will be presented and will be taught without a compilation of notes so that you should be encouraged to play by ear. New experiences in playing and hearing should be created for which neither knowledge of harmony nor advanced playing skills will be needed.
