Friederike Heumann - viola da gamba, lirone
Friederike Heumann studied viola da gamba at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland) with Jordi Savall and Paolo Pandolfo and completed her training with a soloist diploma for early music. The musician now tours the world both as a soloist and with her ensemble "Stylus Phantasticus". Her award-winning CD recordings are regularly celebrated by international critics, and her new album "Dreames & imaginations - Poeticall Musice to be sung to the lyra viol" will be released in 2024. Friederike Heumann teaches viola da gamba and consort at the Munich University of Music and Theater, as well as at numerous international master classes. In the summer semester of 2020, she was appointed Professor for Historical String Chamber Music and Viola da gamba at the Würzburg University of Music. She is a jury member at international competitions for early music. Course description The course is aimed at music students and trained gambists and (by arrangement) also at modern string players who would like to engage with historically informed performance practice. Solo repertoire: all stylistic periods relevant to the viola da gamba; Consort repertoire and chamber music: your own suggestions are welcome, including music for several viols, including scordated ones, in tablature notation, Italian, French and English consort music and improvisation exercises on ostinato basses. Lirone players are expressly welcome for this year's Renaissance and early Baroque repertoire!
